Ivan’s passion for animal welfare began in childhood—he spent countless hours reading about dog breeds at the library and learning from local pet shops. This early curiosity grew into a career dedicated to understanding and helping pets live harmoniously with their families, including providing specialized cat obedience training for feline clients.
As an international educator, Ivan has served at institutions such as United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) and Odyssey The Global Preschool, specializing in music pedagogy. Blending his background in music education with animal behaviour, he pioneered the use of music therapy for both feline and canine clients, particularly for pets struggling with anxiety and aggression. Ivan has successfully rehabilitated hundreds of dogs through science-based, positive reinforcement techniques and behavioural modification strategies, establishing himself as a leading dog trainer in the field.
Since founding Superstar Paws in June 2013, Ivan has also managed a music business and a social enterprise reaching out to people with special needs. A dedicated reader and researcher, he is passionate about staying abreast of the latest innovations in animal training and behaviour science, including effective methods for puppy training.
Ivan’s expertise encompasses a wide range of behavioural challenges, with a special interest in multi-pet households, aggression cases, and feline behaviour issues. As an experienced cat trainer, he is a strong advocate for pet adoption, having personally rescued and rehomed abandoned dogs. Today, he shares his home with a Pomsky and a working-line German Shepherd, and remains committed to compassionate, individualised care for every animal he works with.
